Testing

At Volley Strong University, testing is essential for evaluating our athletes' progress year over year. We use a comprehensive battery of tests—approach jump, standing long jump, 5-10-5 agility test, and 10-yard sprint—to gauge their vertical and horizontal jumping ability, agility, and speed. These benchmarks help us track their performance, adapt their training plans, and guide their athletic growth effectively

Approach Jump

Often called the gold standard in sports, especially volleyball, the approach jump measures how high an athlete can touch. It helps us calculate vertical jump height, showing the difference between their standing reach and their maximum jump reach."

Standing Long Jump

A test of explosive power, the standing long jump assesses an athlete's ability to launch forward, then stop and control their body upon landing—a critical skill for balance and agility."

5-10-5 (Pro Agility)

This popular test evaluates an athlete's ability to produce force and change direction quickly within a small area, essential for agility and quick response in gameplay."

10-Yard Sprint

"Measuring acceleration and straight-line power, the 10-yard sprint provides insights into an athlete's ability to generate speed—a skill that correlates strongly with jump performance."

Hexagon Agility Drill

The hexagon drill tests body control and agility, requiring athletes to perform quick in-and-out movements around a 2' x 2' hexagon. This drill reveals how well an athlete can control footwork and body movement under speed."
